Trinity’s Rector (Senior Pastor), the Reverend Ellen L. Tillotson, was called here in 1992, the first woman to serve as Rector here and in Northwest Connecticut. She served as a Deputy to the General Convention of the Episcopal Church in 1997, 2000 and 2003. She served on the Diocese of Connecticut’s Liturgical, Ecumenical and Ministry Commissions in the past and for nine years chaired the committee that recommended persons for the ordination process. About our church structure:
In the Episcopal Church of America (ECUSA) each parish is a discrete body that worships together, engages in outreach and service to the community and nourishes each other in spiritual development. Individual parishes are led by a Rector who works with a paid staff and a body of elected lay people (the Vestry) to design and direct the business of the church in worship, prayer, education, pastoral care, financial health, care of the physical plant and outreach. Vestry members serve in rotating three year terms. The Vestry is led by an executive council of two wardens, a treasurer and a clerk. The business of the church is conducted at monthly Vestry meetings and at the Annual Meeting each January.

Each parish is a part of a greater Diocese. In Connecticut, there are 177 parishes in our Diocese. The Diocese is supported by the parishes in an annual 12 1/2 % pledge of each parishes’ budget. The Diocese of Connecticut is led by three Bishops: The Right Reverend Andrew D. Smith, Bishop; The Right Reverend James Curry, Bishop Suffragan and The Right Reverend Wilfredo Ramos-Orench, Bishop Suffragan. The Diocese gathers annually in October for Convention to do the business of the church. Diocesan offices are in Hartford. Their web site can be reached at http://www.ctdiocese.org/index.cfm

Each Diocese is part of a greater Province. In the ECUSA there are nine provinces. Connecticut is part of Province #1 which includes the New England States.

The ECUSA gathers every three years for its General Convention to review and refine the workings of the church. The ECUSA elects a Presiding Bishop to serve a nine year term. Our Presiding Bishop is The Most Reverend Frank T. Griswold. The National Church offices are in New York City. Their web site can be reached at http://www.ecusa.anglican.org/index_flash.htm
